Okay please read before commenting-
I don't mean to hate on anime/manga styles, I think they're great! But if you are a beginner at drawing and you grab a 'How to Draw Manga' book you are only learning to copy someone else's style. When you attempt to draw your own characters and you don't know basic anatomy you will struggle and they are likely to look off. It's important to grasp the basics before twisting them

Those mistake guides are really nice and cover most of the faults I used to do as well.
However, regarding one thing I have to kindly disagree: The "How to draw manga" books helped me a lot and I don't think that they have made my pictures worse. ^^ Also I don't know if we are talking about the same books. The "How to draw manga" books here in Germany (still made in Japan and translated) are great.
